Drinks Branding Across Bar, Shelf and Ecommerce

Test drinks branding across bar displays, retail shelves and ecommerce thumbnails without creating disconnected identities.

A drinks brand appears at different distances and crops across bar, retail and ecommerce. The core identity should remain recognisable, but supporting assets can adapt to each context. Start by deciding what must survive when the label is small or partly obscured.

Check the bar view

A bottle may be seen from a distance with only part of its label visible. Review the silhouette, brand mark and product descriptor together. Do not assume a detailed back label contributes to that first recognition moment. Use realistic photographs of the viewing context where available.

Check the retail view

Place the pack among plausible neighbouring products at comparable scale. Test whether the name and variant can be found without magnifying the image. For a hypothetical tonic range, make flavour navigation clear even when the brand occupies a modest shelf width.

Check the online view

Crop the same approved pack for a product grid and then a detail page. Use supporting images for information that cannot sensibly fit the main thumbnail.

Studio perspective

The studio recommendation is to solve the weakest context before adding more decoration to the hero view.

Practical review checklist

  • Core recognition cues
  • Distance test
  • Retail grouping
  • Small online crop

Usually the same pack needs channel-specific imagery rather than a different identity.

Can a large wordmark solve every context?

Not if product type or variant becomes unclear.

Should launch images share one crop?
