The visible front is smaller than the flat artwork suggests.

A squeeze tube has a shoulder, taper, cap orientation, seam and crimp. Only part of the circumference is visible at once, so typography and graphics need to be composed for the finished object rather than the flat file.

The design must account for how the pack is filled, sealed, displayed, held and squeezed while keeping the product and brand immediately clear.

    Compose the most important brand and product information inside the part of the tube a shopper sees first.

  2. Format compensation

    Allow for curvature, taper, seam position, crimp exclusion and the way graphics distort around the object.

  3. Range consistency

    Create adaptable rules for different diameters, lengths, product types, variants and cap or component colours.

Tube production reality

Diameter, seam and crimp define the artwork.

The supplier's technical drawing should confirm circumference, print width, shoulder and taper, crimp or seal zone, seam position, cap orientation, barcode area and decoration process. Direct print and applied labels require different artwork structures.

Laminate, aluminium and plastic structures behave differently. White underprint, ink opacity, finish durability, product compatibility and component recyclability should be tested and approved by the tube manufacturer and filler.

Format engineering

Each diameter and length needs its own adaptation and technical check. Simply scaling a master artwork can move important elements outside the visible face or into seams, shoulders and crimp areas.

Caps, sleeves, barriers, inks and mixed materials can affect a tube's assessment. Any recyclability or environmental statement should be based on the confirmed construction, current methodology and supplier evidence.

Do you need the tube supplier's dieline?

Yes. Diameter, length, crimp, seam, print method and safe areas vary between suppliers and formats.

Why is tube artwork different from flat packaging?

Only part of the circumference is immediately visible. Curvature, taper and the crimp can change how typography and graphics appear on the finished pack.

Can you design direct-print and labelled tubes?

Yes. The artwork setup depends on the chosen decoration process and the supplier's technical specification.

Can one system cover several tube sizes?

Yes, although each size needs its own artwork adaptation and technical check. Simply scaling one file is rarely sufficient.

Can the tube carry a recyclability claim?

Only after the exact component construction and current assessment criteria have been confirmed. Caps, sleeves, barriers and mixed materials can affect the result.
