A complete brand-to-pack service

Get noticed. Get understood. Get made.

Packaging is where brand strategy, product information and physical production meet. The front has to earn attention quickly, the range has to remain navigable and the artwork has to respect the format selected by the supplier.

I support new products, packaging redesigns and multi-SKU ranges across identity, pack architecture, visual concepts, production artwork and launch presentation. The scope is shaped around the product, sales channel, supplier status and commercial deadline.

Three commercial priorities

A pack system with a job to do.

The strongest route is not simply the most decorative. It creates a controlled balance between recognition, communication and practical delivery.

  1. Immediate recognition

Create one clear focal point and enough distinctive character for the product to register at first glance.

  2. Disciplined hierarchy

Give the brand, product name, variant and required information a defined role instead of allowing every element to compete.

  3. Scalable architecture

Build fixed and variable rules that can accommodate flavours, strengths, sizes, benefits and future SKU growth.

Production reality

The idea still has to survive the supplier handoff.

Creative routes are developed with pack geometry, usable print area, material, application method, colour process, finish choices, coding zones and supplier tolerances in view.

Final artwork should only be built on an approved manufacturer dieline. Where the agreed scope includes production artwork, files can be prepared with cutters, bleed, separations, ink and finish callouts, barcode positioning and technical notes for supplier preflight.

A controlled route through the work

From commercial brief to supplier preflight.

  1. Define

Confirm the product, audience, category, sales channel, format, SKU count, supplier status and launch timing.

  2. Build

Develop positioning, brand expression, pack hierarchy, structural direction and range rules.

  3. Resolve

Apply approved copy, variants, dielines, barcodes, print limitations and selected finishes.

  4. Deliver

Issue final artwork and presentation assets with a documented handoff for printer or manufacturer preflight.

Final legal, environmental, technical and manufacturing approval remains with the brand, appointed specialists and production supplier.

A scope built around the launch

Packaging support from idea to artwork.

Services can be commissioned as a connected programme or as one clearly defined stage where suitable files and decisions already exist.

  • Positioning and front-of-pack hierarchy
  • Packaging identity and visual concepts
  • Structural format exploration
  • Multi-SKU range architecture
  • Artwork on confirmed supplier dielines
  • Printer and manufacturer liaison

Information architecture

Required copy belongs in the design process.

Mandatory information, barcodes, coding areas and retailer content are planned early enough to influence the composition. Final copy and legal approval must be supplied or validated by the client and relevant specialists.

Practical sustainability

Environmental claims need evidence.

Material reduction, component count, recyclability and format efficiency can be considered against product protection and the real supply chain. Final assessments should use the current PackUK methodology and supplier data rather than unsupported terms such as eco-friendly.

Before the project begins

Packaging design questions.

What does a packaging design project include?

Scope can include positioning, visual identity, pack architecture, design concepts, SKU variants, artwork on confirmed supplier dielines and supplier handoff. The exact stages are agreed around the live launch requirements.

Can you begin before the packaging format is confirmed?

Early creative routes can be explored, but manufacturing artwork should only begin once the supplier has approved the final format and dieline.

Can you redesign an existing pack?

Yes. The current pack can be audited for recognition, hierarchy, range navigation, production limitations and opportunities to simplify the system.

Can one design system cover several SKUs?

Yes. The master pack should establish consistent fixed elements and controlled variable elements for flavour, size, benefit, strength or product type.

Does packaging design include regulatory approval?

No. Space and hierarchy can be planned around approved requirements, but the client and relevant technical or legal advisers remain responsible for final compliance.

Planning a packaging project?

Make the pack work harder.

Share the product, proposed format, SKU count, supplier status and target launch window. I will identify the right starting point and the design support required to move it forward.
