Skincare typography needs to remain readable on the intended label or carton at physical size. Begin with product-name hierarchy and approved copy, then choose a type system that handles the available space. A fine display typeface may work for a brand mark but fail in supporting text.
Test the difficult names
Set the longest product name, the longest variant and any required supporting copy before approving the layout. A hypothetical short “Cleanser” label does not prove the same design can hold a longer serum descriptor. Adjust line breaks deliberately; do not stretch or squeeze letters to hide a poor fit.
Review curvature and contrast
Text near the edge of a round bottle turns away from the viewer. Keep the main identity within a usable front view and check the rest by rotating a physical mockup. Assess reverse type and subtle colours with supplier samples where possible.
Keep legibility decisions separate from compliance
Applicable labelling requirements must be confirmed for the product and market. This guide does not prescribe a universal legal type size.
Studio perspective
The studio preference is to shorten optional wording and simplify hierarchy before sacrificing readability to keep an oversized decorative element.

Frequently asked questions
Is a luxury typeface enough to make a pack premium?
No. Spacing, hierarchy and usability matter as much as style.
Can all copy use one type size?
A deliberate hierarchy is usually clearer than equal emphasis everywhere.
Who confirms legal minimums?
The responsible business and its qualified reviewer for the relevant market.
