Salon and retail haircare packs have different proportions and viewing situations. Preserve the product family while adapting the layout to each bottle and dispenser. A professional pump bottle should not receive an enlarged retail label without checking its usable surface and orientation.
Keep formula and function distinguishable
A hypothetical smoothing range may contain shampoo, conditioner and treatment in several sizes. Establish which signal identifies function and which identifies the range. Keep capacity secondary but easy to find. Review similar bottles side by side so customers do not confuse conditioner with shampoo.
Account for handling
Ask whether the pack is read on a salon shelf, at a basin or in a home shower. Check label placement on the actual bottle and around the pump. The supplier must confirm label material and performance in the intended environment; a graphic layout cannot establish water resistance.
Build a rollout matrix
List product, formula, size, component reference and artwork version. Approve the smallest and largest formats before adapting the middle sizes.
Studio perspective
The studio preference is a recognisable family with a stable naming hierarchy, even when individual label proportions differ.

Frequently asked questions
Should capacity become the main design difference?
No. Product type and formula should remain easy to identify first.
Can retail artwork be reused?
Brand assets can be reused, but the layout and specification need checking.
Who checks label durability?
