A clear idea, brought to life with purpose.

About the project

Luxury from the first touchpoint

Vale & Roan is a British brand creating premium leather collars and accessories for dogs. Its first product launch centred on a premium leather dog collar, and the brief called for a complete visual and product system rather than packaging developed in isolation.

Harrods-level presentation was the reference point in the brief. The packaging needed to feel at home in a luxury retail environment while giving the new brand a distinctive character that could extend across future accessories.

The design challenge

With no established visual language, decisions about the identity, colour palette, collar details and packaging needed to support one another. The experience had to feel considered from the closed box through to the product reveal.

The work brought together brand design, colour development, product-design support, CAD and 3D visualisation so the collar and its presentation could be reviewed as one coherent launch system.

03

The design response

A considered luxury launch

Closed, the box feels calm and confident, with the Vale & Roan name providing a restrained focal point. Opened, the gold-toned interior and fitted presentation give the collar a stronger sense of occasion.

The resulting system gives Vale & Roan a premium foundation for its first dog collar and a visual language that can extend across further collars and accessories while retaining recognition.

Designed for a wider brand world

The identity works beyond the presentation box. Its palette, typography and material cues can guide future packaging, product details, ecommerce imagery and launch communications.

The project demonstrates how branding, product development, CAD, packaging and 3D visualisation can be brought together to give a new pet-accessories brand a cohesive luxury position from its first release.

Built to stand out. Structured to stay clear.

  1. 01

    Distinctive identity

Build a recognisable visual idea that gives the project its own clear point of view.

  2. 02

    Clear communication

Organise the message so the audience can understand the product quickly and confidently.

  3. 03

    Designed for context

Create a flexible system that stays coherent wherever the brand needs to appear.

A distinctive idea designed to work everywhere.

British restraint with a warm luxury finish

A deep forest green establishes the brand’s quiet, confident character. Gold-toned typography and detailing introduce warmth, while cream and natural beige create a refined backdrop for the leather product.

The widely spaced serif wordmark gives Vale & Roan an elegant presence without relying on familiar pet-category graphics. The restrained palette allows the craftsmanship and materials to remain the focus.

Product and packaging developed together

Product-design and CAD support helped align the collar’s form, leather finish and gold-toned hardware with the way it would be presented inside the box.

The dark green presentation box, gold-edged tray and warm neutral insert frame the collar as a considered luxury object. Three-dimensional visualisation helped assess the relationship between the identity, product and packaging before launch.
